At Monday night’s Town Council meeting, during the 15 minute “Open Forum” portion of the meeting, town resident Mike Davis, former Budget Committee member Mike Rapko, and I spoke about the effects of the proposed commercial and tangible tax rate changes on NS homeowners. You might want to take 15 minutes to view the video below to hear how the proposed tax rate changes would unfairly burden homeowners. Mr. Rapko and I gave much longer presentations at last week’s budget hearing.
In the short video below, Mike Davis speaks first, Mike Rapko second, a resident of Homestead Ave. speaks third for about a minute on a different topic, and I speak last about the proposed tax rates.
It appears the Administrator will be withdrawing his proposal to change the tax rates. At the conclusion of the meeting he stated he would withdraw his recommendation regarding the tangible tax rate and be presenting new tax rates at this coming Monday night’s Town Council meeting. I don’t care what spin the Administrator puts on it; proposing a reduction in the tangible tax rate at this time was a reckless act which certainly favored National Grid.
