Beaureguard Accepts Questionable Campaign Contributions

Really, when is enough, enough? Mr. #Beauregard accepted five #contributions for $1,000 a piece this time.

John Beauregard contends accepting a total of $1,100 in contributions from 11 attorneys, 10 who do not live in town and 4 who have done legal work for the Town, would not buy his vote. I wonder if accepting five $1,000 contributions would influence his vote on an issue.

His October 30, 2018 campaign filing report lists 5 individuals who contributed $1,000 a piece to his campaign. At least three are related to the owner of a land excavation company and housing developer who does business in town. One of the three contributors appears to work for Bay Crane Northeast, which works on projects with Green Development; Green #Development is building the 400 acre solar array in North Smithfield. Mr. Beauregard did not list the required employer data of those who contributed to his campaign.

In addition to the five $1,000 donations he also listed a $500 donation from a Providence resident and another donation of $150 from an Exeter resident. He accepted all the checks prior to October 6th and deposited them in his campaign account on October 15, 2018. News regarding his earlier questionable donations came out on October 24th. Since the new contributions had been deposited into his #campaign account before then, he could not escape reporting the #contributions by returning the checks. Either Mr. Beauregard’s math on the filing is incorrect or he has not listed all the contributors because he stated $6,150 was received but the donations listed only add up to $5,650.

You can accept this #unethical behavior if you choose to, but we get the government we deserve when we do nothing and look away. If this latest campaign filing concerns you, please consider sharing this post on your page so this information reaches voters before Tuesday’s election.

Green Development is the contractor for the project with the support of HB Welding Inc., Bay Crane Northeast, Consolidated Concrete Corp., Mass Electric Construction Co., Waterson Terminal Services LLC, DiPrete Engineering and Vensys Energy Inc.
