North Smithfield's Worst Roads RATED

Road #repaving and #drainage repairs in this town never seem to be a big priority. Instead we tend to fund “wants” and neglect basic “needs”. In 2014, a report on the condition of the town’s roads was done by Casali Engineering. Please take a minute to review an excerpt of the report below, and find the condition rating of your street. Until homeowners speak up, our elected leaders will continue to focus on funding “wants”, instead of adequately #funding basic necessities like well-maintained and safe roads. Have your friends and relatives use the link below to check out their street.

Only eleven roads have been re-paved since the report was received. Funding came from the $2.5 million dollar road bond passed by voters in 2014. The Casali report identified 6 town roads as “Failed”, 12 in “serious condition”, 18 as “very poor” and 40 as “poor”. The rest of our roads were identified as fair, satisfactory, good, great, excellent and new. Your road has probably deteriorated further since 2014 and its ranking would likely be even lower today.

Bids for repaving work on the #roads listed below were solicited recently. The 2014 rating of each road follows the street name. How many of these roads will be repaved is dependent on the cost of the project and available funds.

BASE BID ITEMS – GREAT RD(7), E HARKNESS RD (8), WILKS AVE(9), CARLTON AVE (9), RAINVILLE AVE (8) ALTERNATE “A” BID ITEMS – LITZEN ROAD AND LORRAINE AVENUE (7) ALTERNATE “B” BID ITEMS – PARKVIEW DRIVE/ EDWARD AVENUE (6)
