Taxpayer Funded Propaganda Machine

In this week’s town newsletter, Town Administrator Ezovski has attempted to shield himself and his political allies, current NS Town Council members, from criticism in the #Kendall Dean/ Police Station bond renovations fiasco. He included the following in his message: “With passage of the 2014 question, the sitting town council authorized the Public Building Improvement Committee to move the project forward but in 2016 after well over a year of their work the then sitting town council refused to accept the PBIC’s proposals to resolve the bid versus budget condition which that group encountered. Now here we are again with a problem.” Administrator Ezovski has clearly perfected the art of political “spin” by conveniently fast forwarding to today, and omitting discussion of actions taken over the last two years by the current town council which are the cause of this latest fiasco.
It is true that the outgoing Town #Council voted 3-2 not to approve a re-bid proposal at their last meeting held on November 21, 2016 as Mr. Ezovski stated. The re-bid proposal suggested by the PBIC was to reduce the scope of work involved in the renovation projects and immediately go out to bid again. #Administrator Ezovski neglected to point out however, that when the former council deliberated on the vote in 2016, some council members expressed concerns and were hesitant to make such an important decision in the 11th hour of their last meeting. Some members believed it would be best to leave the decision to the new council members who were taking office in 10 days, and they voted accordingly.
The fact of the matter is the current town council, led by Council President #Beauregard, did reject numerous pleas by the former building #committee members (PBIC) and taxpayers to re-bid the projects. They also refused to even meet with the PBIC members to discuss the idea. Administrator Ezovski was not in favor of, nor did he advocate for, rebidding the bond projects; to the contrary he actually encouraged the Town Council to reject the idea of rebidding the project with a reduced scope of work and even promoted the idea of starting from scratch with a new #architect. Council meetings are recorded and these actions can be seen on YouTube videos.
Their plan to start from scratch has back fired, and the Administrator has chosen to distance himself and his political allies from criticism by laying the blame on others. The current town council and town Administrator are clearly responsible for the added burden to the taxpayers which will result from this latest delay.
It’s no wonder Administrator #Ezovski now frowns on finger pointing; although it appears to me he had no difficulty in doing just that with regard to the choices made by the 2014 and 2016 Town Councils.
It’s also my opinion that using the town newsletter to pedal political #propaganda demonstrates extremely poor judgement by the administrator and is also totally inappropriate. Sadly, I’m not surprised or shocked.
