This chart provided by the Tax Assessor, shows how residential property values were impacted by the recent re-evaluation. If the assessed value of your home decreased or increased by only a small percentage you’ll feel little to no pain when you get your tax bill in July. If the value of your property increased substantially you might want to sit down before you open your bill.
The chart on the left indicates there are 4,562 homes in North Smithfield. The assessed value of 2,629 homes increased by 16% or greater; 1,396 homes had no change or increased by up to 15%; and 291 actually decreased in value. The range of change in value was quite wide. The assessed value of 60 homes actually decreased by 11% or more, but on the flip side, 49 homes increased in value by more than 76%. Simply click the document to enlarge it.
